Extractive zones are not “over there,” but everywhere. Although I write about South America, the Americas more generally, and the Global South, many of the concepts and analytics I raise have applicability to extractive industries in the Global North, and to the racialized spaces where capitalism does its dirty work. These spheres are not separate and indeed it is important for us to find convergences in urban margins, in the fractures of capital, and in the spatial and temporal logics of the colonial anthropocene.
